Charli’s Thoughts on Blogging
Overall, I felt the class blog was a good experience. Being new to blogging, it was good to learn what the capabilities of a blog are. Since we used a rotating director, writer, photographer the possibility of creating a quality blog was pretty unlikely. As we were constantly changing parts, it was hard to stay caught up with the story. In the beginning it was a lot easier to follow, but as the directors and writers continued to switch the story characters were lost.
One thing that might have improved to overall story would have been collaborating as a class at the start. If we had started on the same page, maybe the end product would have been a little more cohesive.
I also wish we each could have posted the photos and writing on the blog instead of the same person each week. This would have given us an opportunity to change the format and overall attitude of the story.
After looking at the completed blog, it is an interesting story with lots of confusion. However, considering the process, it is amazing it even makes as much sense as it does. It was great that everyone had an equal opportunity to add his/her own creativity to the blog, but in times when you were merely an “actor” it felt a little like a waste. I wish there would have been a way to be more creative throughout the entire process, instead of in just the three roles.
If we were to do the blog again by changing a few things around we could really make it into something worthwhile. It was a good experience, as well as a great opportunity to meet and interact with the other students in the class.
