(Phone conversation)

LZ:    Hello

DB:    Who is this?

LZ:    Think back to 1937. Prague? Ring any bells?

DB:    Why you dirty scoundrel. I never thought you’d have the nerve to talk to me again.

LZ:    Things have changed. I think we both have information that could be mutually beneficial to each other

DB:     What are you talking about? I’ve been out of the game for years now.

LZ:    But isn’t there some wrongs you would like to make right?

DB:    …

LZ:    Meet me at Grand View Hotel in three hours if you’d like a chance for revenge.

(lighting strike?)

(Grand view hotel room)

(DB Knocks on door.)

(LZ answers door with safety lock (chain thing) still on the door)

LZ:    Bringing friends wasn’t part of the agreement.

DB:    You didn’t say I couldn’t, and if there’s a job to be done, I’m going to have to have my girls in on it.

LZ:    Fine. Bring them in.

(everyone enters the hotel room, sits around a table, gets settled.)

DB:    Alright Zulauf, What makes you think that I have something you want?

LZ:    Did you ever notice anything strange about your boss in the many years you spent working for him?

DB:    Hoover? Strange? Not except for his slightly above average enjoyment of a fine scotch and a nice fat stogie.

LZ:    Did the way he dress ever seem odd to you? Did he ever mention a “private wardrobe”?

DB:    Now that you mention it, from time to time at the end of the day, he would say that he was going to go get something special out of his private wardrobe before he went out for the night. I never socialized with him outside of work, however, so I never thought much about it.

(LZ throws down thick manilla envelope)

DB:    What’s this?

LZ:    Take a look for yourself.

(LZ makes herself a gin and tonic)

(DB and her cronies start looking through the contents. Make gasps of horror as they see pictures of Hoover dressed in outlandish women’s clothing. Think: Flapper)

ST:    Where did you get these things? There’s no way these are real.

GC:    Get your Nazi ass out of my country.

LZ: (sipping on Gin and tonic, causally) Say what you want, but these garments and these photographs are real. J. Edgar Hoover has been living a secret night-life in New York establishments since before he was FBI director, and has continued to this day.

DB:    So what do you want from us? I don’t understand how we have anything to do with this.

LZ:    I need you to get ahold of these garments.

DB:    I may be a disgruntled agent, but there is no way I would embarrass my country like that

LZ:    What about for… A THOUSAND DOLLARS????

(Collective gasps)

LZ:    My country is willing to pay heavily to make the American look silly. We could also provide you a safe transportation out of the country and a new life in Germany after you have completed your task.

(DB and cronies huddle in for a secret conference. No words are overheard)

(DB gets up from table)

DB: $1,000 per person?

LZ: Sure, why not.

DB: “we’re in”

(LZ and DB shake hands)

(Everyone pours drinks and begins to discuss details)
